Boucher Guitars – Bluegrass Goose vs. Studio Goose: What are the differences?

The two most popular models of Boucher Guitars are remarkably similar in terms of materials used and bracing style. Both feature amazing high grade Adirondack red spruce tops and forward shifted X bracing that is hand-scalloped. And both models have a variety of different tonewood offerings as well as different body shapes. But here are 5 key differences that you must know so you can pick the model that’s right for you.

1. Perhaps the most noticeable difference in feel are the differing nut widths. The bluegrass goose has a 42.8mm while the studio goose has a wider 44.5mm nut width.

2. Tonally you may hear a difference because the bluegrass goose has a slightly larger soundhole by a fraction of an inch.

3. The bluegrass model also has a bone nut and saddle while the studio features a tusq nut with bone saddle.

4. The bluegrass model is designed to push more air and is strung up with medium strings while the studio comes with light gauge. Strings can obviously be adjusted based on your personal taste.

5. Beyond that the visuals are almost identical except the bluegrass model has a squared headstock and open geared tuners while the studio goose has a more unique headstock shape and closed back tuners.

Which model would you go for?
