Last week, our friend and Stonebridge Collaborating Artist Chris Kirby paid us a visit and he was also kind enough to let us record one of his songs called “Mary Brown”. If you like acoustic guitar, soulful singing and the honest to goodness taste of Mary Brown’s chicken and taters, then you’re in for a treat!
Self described as a witty, spitey, pasty-white kid from the backwoods of Newfoundland, Chris is a classy and stylish musician with a playful and mischievous side who can out-rascal the best — and worst — of ’em… without even wrinkling his suit.
A 10-time ECMA nominee and 5-time Music NL winner, Chris has had the opportunity to tour with bands like Wide Mouth Mason and Big Sugar, as well as performing at the 2010 Vancouver Olympics. He recently recorded a live album at a house concert in St. John’s, NL, called “The Kitchen Party LIVE” which features his funk band, The Marquee.
Between his many songwriting trips to Toronto, Nashville and LA, and his studio projects producing several award winning east-coast Canadian artists not to mention his own touring, Chris keeps himself pretty busy. So we felt lucky to have him here for an afternoon at Brickhouse Guitars! Thanks, Chris!
