Last night we held our very first open mic at Smile Tiger Coffee Roasters in Kitchener. It was a fantastic evening filled with lots of local talent, original music, classic songs, impromptu jams not to mention great coffee and food. We’re very excited to help give local musicians of all ages an opportunity to showcase their skills and passion for music. The next open mic will be held on November 4th at Smile Tiger. Don’t miss it!
Here are some photos from last night…
Father / daughter duo Paul and Charlotte did a fantastic rendition of “Highway of Heroes” by the Trews. Apparently they just threw it together a couple hours before!
Paul decided to stick around a little longer and show off his blues chops.
Next it was Tori’s turn to blow us away with her beautiful voice and interpretation of some current pop hits from bands like ‘Of Monsters and Men’ and ‘Vance Joy’.
Maddison and I played some ’90’s tunes by Alanis Morrisette and the Cranberries.
Madison and Alyssa did an awesome rendition of David Bowie’s “Space Oddity”. Gorgeous harmonies!
Sarah played a set of original tunes that had everyone captivated. She said she was pretty nervous, but you wouldn’t have known it from her performance!
Jake and I jammed out some old classics, “All Along The Watchtower” and “Pride and Joy”. He showed that guitar who was boss!
Brickhouse’s own Luke Michielsen finished off the night with a bit of Neil Young, Great Lake Swimmers and his original song “Berlin”.
Thank you to all who came out and helped make this a really fun evening of music. A big thank you to Smile Tiger for letting us use their space. I can’t wait to see everyone again in November. Hopefully there will be some new faces as well. See you then!
